The Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Garden Theatre
The Garden Theatre is a temporary outdoor performance space that will be built in the Swan Gardens, with safe outdoor seating for up to 500 people and great views of the stage.
Phillip Breen's production of The Comedy of Errors will open the Garden Theatre, with performances from 13 July to 26 September.
The theatre will also see two performances by Next Generation ACT of All Mirth and No Matter, their creative response to Much Ado About Nothing. These talented young people from our Associate Schools will present a one-hour accessible production featuring a semi-integrated BSL interpreter and a special introduction from two company members. You can see All Mirth and No Matter on Friday 23 July at 10.30am and 2.30pm.
VISITING THE GARDEN THEATRE
Everyone is welcome to our new outdoor venue, including babes-in-arms. Children who can walk and sit in their own seat will require a ticket, and there will be support from our Front of House team if you need to exit and re-enter the performance at any time.
As an outdoor space, performances in the Garden Theatre will operate slightly differently to those in our buildings. If you have access needs, please let us know when booking so we can fully accommodate you. There will only be reserved seating for those with access requirements; all other seating will be allocated on arrival, and will be in line with the government guidance. Visit our Garden Theatre FAQs page to learn more about the performance, accessibility, and booking information.
MAKE A DAY OF IT
There will be free family activities in the Garden Theatre and on the Bancroft Terrace from 27 July - 20 August, including pop-up performances and workshops. Visit our Events page for more details.
Catering options are also available for your visit, including getting an ice cream at the Rocket, picking up a picnic box at the Riverside Cafe, and even having a pre-show meal at the Rooftop Restaurant. See our food and drink pages for full details.
