Annual Festivals
Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations
April
Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebration is a tremendous spectacle. This takes place on the weekend that is on or after the 23rd April. The festival includes a myriad of exciting and vibrant spectacles for adults and children alike, with a hive of activity taking place. The crowds are entertained by street theatre, the Shakespeare Morris Men, Children’s Country Dancing, the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers and the Coventry Corps of Drums. The highlight of the weekend is undoubtedly the Procession and the unfurling of the flags and laying of floral tributes at Holy Trinity Church.

Shakespeare’s Marathon
April
This event celebrated its 26th anniversary in 2008 and continues to be a favourite amongst Marathon runners.
The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Stratford upon Avon, which is part of Rotary International, a worldwide organisation of business and professional leaders.

Stratford-upon-Avon Christmas Festival
Novemeber - December
Christmas in Stratford is truly magical. There is late night shopping on the four Thursdays leading up to Christmas, accompanied by speciality Christmas Markets all enhanced by the stunning Christmas Lights displays.
The Christmas Lights switch-on event usually takes place at 5pm at the Town Hall on the last Thursday in November, following which Santa receives guests in his grotto at the Mayor's Parlour. For more information visit www.visitstratforduponavon.co.uk/christmaslights
Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival
April - May
Celebrating Literary in the heart of Shakespeare Country, previous highlights include Pam Ayres, Melvyn Bragg, Julian Clary, Gloria Hunniford and Gyles Brandreth.

Stratford-upon-Avon Music Festival
July and October
Presenting a weekend of three concerts of outstanding, international musicians. This year, the highlight will be top British Pianist, Freddy Kempf in a programme of Bach, Rachmaninov and Chopin in the Town Hall. Other concerts include a Solstice Quartet in a programme of Beethoven and Schumann and a harpsichord and violin concert on the Sunday afternoon in the Guild Chapel followed by tea at the Falcon Hotel.
